This guide shows you how to get it right without asking the recipient and spoiling the surprise: how to measure a garment they already wear, how to compare it with the measurements on our product pages, how to decide between two sizes, and what to do if the fit is still not right. It also covers mug, canvas and ornament sizes. Whatever you choose, every item can be exchanged within 60 days of delivery with a free return label.</p>\n<h2>The sizes we use</h2>\n<p>Our shirts, sweatshirts and hoodies use these adult size labels, in this order: S, M, L, XL, 2XL, 3XL, 4XL and 5XL. Not every style is offered in every size; the size menu on each product page shows exactly which sizes that style comes in. Styles include a classic tee, a relaxed comfort tee, a long-sleeve tee, a crewneck sweatshirt and a hoodie, and they do not all fit the same way. A classic tee and a sweatshirt in the same size label can have different chest widths and lengths, so always compare with the measurements for the exact style you are buying.</p>\n<table class=\"policy-table\">\n<caption>Kin Print size labels and how they are used</caption>\n<thead>\n<tr>\n<th scope=\"col\">Size label</th>\n<th scope=\"col\">Where to find its measurements</th>\n<th scope=\"col\">Tip</th>\n</tr>\n</thead>\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td>S, M, L</td>\n<td>The size details on the product page for the chosen style</td>\n<td>Compare chest width with a shirt the recipient likes</td>\n</tr>\n<tr>\n<td>XL, 2XL</td>\n<td>The size details on the product page for the chosen style</td>\n<td>Check body length as well as chest, especially for taller recipients</td>\n</tr>\n<tr>\n<td>3XL, 4XL, 5XL</td>\n<td>The size details on the product page, where the style offers them</td>\n<td>Not every style runs this large; check the size menu first</td>\n</tr>\n</tbody>\n</table>\n<p>We do not publish one universal chart on this page because the measurements differ by style and by the garment used for that style. The product page is always the authority for the item you are ordering. If a product page does not yet show the measurements you need, email <a href=\"mailto:support@kinprint.shop\">support@kinprint.shop</a> with the product name and we will send them to you.</p>\n<h2>How to measure a garment the recipient already wears</h2>\n<p>This is the most reliable method, and it works for gifts because you do not need the person to be there. Borrow (or quietly find) a tee or sweatshirt they like the fit of, similar in style to the one you are buying.</p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>Lay it flat</strong> on a table or bed, front facing up, and smooth out wrinkles without stretching the fabric.</li>\n<li><strong>Chest width:</strong> measure straight across the front, from one side seam to the other, about 2–3 cm (1 inch) below the armpits. This is a flat, one-side measurement; do not double it unless the product page says &#8220;chest circumference&#8221;.</li>\n<li><strong>Body length:</strong> measure from the highest point of the shoulder, next to the collar, straight down to the bottom hem.</li>\n<li><strong>Sleeve length</strong> (for long sleeves, sweatshirts and hoodies): measure from the shoulder seam to the end of the cuff.</li>\n<li><strong>Write the numbers down</strong> with the unit you used, inches or centimetres.</li>\n</ol>\n<p>Then compare your numbers with the measurements listed for each size on the product page. Choose the size whose chest width is closest to your measurement. If the length matters to the recipient (for example, they are tall or prefer a tee that covers the waistband), check that the length is close too.</p>\n<h2>How to measure a person (if you can)</h2>\n<p>If you can measure the recipient directly, use a soft tape measure over light clothing:</p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Chest:</strong> around the fullest part of the chest, under the arms, keeping the tape level and snug but not tight.</li>\n<li><strong>Waist:</strong> around the natural waist, usually just above the belly button.</li>\n<li><strong>Height:</strong> standing straight, without shoes, useful for judging length.</li>\n</ul>\n<p>Body measurements and garment measurements are not the same thing. A garment is always wider than the body so that it can be worn comfortably; this extra room is called ease. If a product page lists garment measurements, compare them with a garment the person wears rather than with their body measurement.</p>\n<h2>Choosing between two sizes</h2>\n<p>When your measurement falls between two sizes, think about how the recipient likes to wear things:</p>\n<table class=\"policy-table\">\n<caption>Deciding between two sizes</caption>\n<thead>\n<tr>\n<th scope=\"col\">If the recipient…</th>\n<th scope=\"col\">Choose</th>\n<th scope=\"col\">Why</th>\n</tr>\n</thead>\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td>Likes a relaxed, roomy fit or wears layers underneath</td>\n<td>The larger size</td>\n<td>Extra room for movement and layering</td>\n</tr>\n<tr>\n<td>Prefers a closer, neater fit</td>\n<td>The smaller size</td>\n<td>Less fabric at the waist and sleeves</td>\n</tr>\n<tr>\n<td>Is buying a sweatshirt or hoodie for cold weather</td>\n<td>The larger size</td>\n<td>Comfortable over a shirt or sweater</td>\n</tr>\n<tr>\n<td>Is a teenager who likes an oversized look</td>\n<td>One size up from their usual</td>\n<td>Oversized tees are often worn deliberately loose</td>\n</tr>\n<tr>\n<td>Is an older grandparent who values comfort</td>\n<td>The larger size</td>\n<td>Easier to put on and more comfortable to sit in</td>\n</tr>\n</tbody>\n</table>\n<p>Cotton garments can relax slightly with wear and may tighten a little if washed hot or tumble-dried on high heat. Following the care instructions on the product page (cool wash, inside out, low heat) helps the fit stay as it was on the first day.</p>\n<h2>Matching family shirts: getting every size right</h2>\n<p>Ordering matching shirts for a reunion, a holiday photo or a family trip means collecting sizes for several people. A simple way to do it:</p>\n<ol>\n<li>Send a short message to each household asking for their usual size in a similar style, or a flat chest measurement of a shirt they like.</li>\n<li>Make a list with three columns: name, size, and the text for that shirt.</li>\n<li>Add each shirt to your cart in its size, then copy the list into the order notes at checkout, one line per shirt, for example &#8220;Tee L: Grandpa Joe&#8221; and &#8220;Tee M: Aunt Lily&#8221;.</li>\n<li>If anyone is unsure, choose the larger size; a slightly loose matching shirt still looks right in the photo.</li>\n</ol>\n<p>If one shirt does not fit, it can be exchanged on its own within 60 days of delivery, with the same personalisation and a free return label.</p>\n<h2>Sizing for grandparents and gifts sent far away</h2>\n<p>Grandparents often live in another city, state or country, which makes a quiet measurement impossible. A few ideas that families use: ask another relative who visits often to check the size label of a sweatshirt Grandma wears; look at recent family photos to judge whether Grandpa prefers a loose or close fit; or ask casually what size they would buy for themselves in a store. If you still cannot decide, choose the larger of two sizes and a comfortable style such as a crewneck sweatshirt. If it turns out to be wrong, the recipient can send it back with our free label and we exchange it directly with them, keeping the same names.</p>\n<h2>Mug sizes</h2>\n<p>Our mugs come in two capacities. The <strong>11 oz</strong> mug is the everyday size, suited to a standard cup of coffee or tea and to most coffee machines. The <strong>15 oz</strong> mug is taller and holds a larger drink, for people who like one big refill instead of two small ones. If the recipient uses a pod coffee machine, check that the taller mug will fit under the spout. Product pages list the dimensions of each mug.</p>\n<h2>Canvas sizes</h2>\n<p>Canvas prints are offered in sizes such as 8&#215;10 in, 11&#215;14 in, 16&#215;20 in, 20&#215;30 in and 24&#215;36 in, depending on the design; the product page shows the sizes available. To choose:</p>\n<ul>\n<li>Measure the wall space with a tape measure and mark the size with painter&#8217;s tape or sheets of paper. Seeing it on the wall is the best test.</li>\n<li>Over a sofa or bed, a canvas usually looks balanced at around two thirds of the furniture&#8217;s width.</li>\n<li>In a hallway or on a shelf, smaller sizes work well and can be grouped.</li>\n<li>Larger canvases need sharper photos. If you are unsure whether your photo will print clearly at a large size, email it to us before ordering and we will tell you.</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Ornament shapes and sizes</h2>\n<p>Ornaments come in shapes such as circle, heart and oval. The product page lists the size of each ornament and whether the design is printed on one side or both. If you plan to add a new ornament each year, choosing the same shape every time makes a lovely matching set on the tree.</p>\n<h2>Common sizing questions</h2>\n<h3>I have no way to measure anything. What should I do?</h3>\n<p>Think about the size they buy in stores for everyday tees or sweatshirts, and choose the same label in a similar style. If you have no idea at all, a relaxed style one size larger than your best guess is the safer choice for a gift, because a slightly loose top is still wearable while a tight one usually is not. The free 60-day exchange is there for exactly this situation.</p>\n<h3>Do your sizes run small or large?</h3>\n<p>It depends on the style. A comfort tee or a hoodie is usually cut more generously than a classic tee. Instead of relying on a general rule, compare the measurements on the product page with a garment the recipient owns; that comparison is more reliable than any label.</p>\n<h3>Are the sizes unisex?</h3>\n<p>Our tees, sweatshirts and hoodies are cut as unisex adult styles unless the product page says otherwise. Many women choose one size smaller than their usual women&#8217;s size in unisex tops, but comparing with a garment they wear is still the best guide.</p>\n<h3>Can I order different sizes of the same design?</h3>\n<p>Yes. Add each size to your cart separately and write the personalisation for each one in the order notes, with the size at the start of the line, so we can match each name to the right shirt.</p>\n<h3>Will the print look smaller on a bigger shirt?</h3>\n<p>The design is placed to suit the garment, so it looks balanced across sizes. Very large or very small sizes may show small differences in the proportion of the print to the shirt, which is normal.</p>\n<h2>If the size is wrong</h2>\n<p>Even with careful measuring, sizes for gifts are sometimes off. That is why every Kin Print item can be returned or exchanged within 60 days of delivery, for any reason, with a free return label. For an exchange, email us with your order number and the new size; we prepare the new item with the same personalisation and ship it free. You can ask us to start as soon as your return has its first carrier scan. Full details are in our <a href=\"/returns-exchanges-policy/\">Returns &amp; Exchanges Policy</a>, and refunds are covered by our <a href=\"/refund-policy/\">Refund Policy</a>.</p>\n<h2>Personalisation and size</h2>\n<p>Names and text are placed to suit the size and style you choose, so you do not need to adjust your wording for a larger or smaller garment. Write the personalisation in the order notes box at checkout with the size next to each line, for example &#8220;Sweatshirt XL: Papa, est. 1975&#8221;, so we can match text and size correctly. We print exactly what you write and do not send a proof before production.</p>\n<h2>Questions about sizing</h2>\n<p>Email <a href=\"mailto:support@kinprint.shop\">support@kinprint.shop</a> with the product name and the measurements you took, and we will help you choose.
